La primera ministra italiana de extrema derecha, Giorgia Meloni, llegó al poder hace un año. Prometió hacer frente a la inmigración ilegal procedente de África, pero fracasó.
Italia es un destino importante para las personas que vienen a Europa, y su número va en aumento. Si los líderes de la UE no encuentran una solución, Meloni planea utilizar el tema de la migración para conseguir apoyos en las elecciones de la UE. Meloni no es tan controvertida como hace un año. Se hizo más popular porque hizo de Italia un país más estable. Sin embargo, mucha gente no cree en este cambio.
Meloni apoya a Ucrania e impulsa acuerdos en África. Entabló nuevas relaciones con líderes como Joe Biden y Volodymyr Zelenskiy. Pero también se acercó al ultraderechista húngaro Viktor Orbán.
