La enfermera británica Lucy Letby, de 33 años, fue declarada culpable de asesinar a siete recién nacidos e intentar matar a otros seis en un hospital del noroeste de Inglaterra donde trabajaba.
El veredicto se produjo tras un juicio de 10 meses, convirtiendo a Letby en la asesina en serie de niños más prolífica de la historia británica moderna. Inyectaba a sus víctimas insulina, aire o las alimentaba a la fuerza con leche, y a menudo atacaba durante los turnos de noche. Las acciones de Letby salieron a la luz cuando los médicos advirtieron muertes y colapsos inexplicables en la unidad neonatal.
La investigación policial condujo a la detención de Letby. Confesó en una nota encontrada en su domicilio.
