En 2017, el ejército de Myanmar emprendió enérgicas acciones contra los musulmanes rohingya, grupo minoritario del país.
El año pasado, funcionarios estadounidenses afirmaron que en Myanmar se estaba produciendo un genocidio y que miles de rohingyas habían muerto. En agosto de 2017, más de un millón de personas huyeron a Bangladesh, porque era demasiado peligroso para ellos quedarse. Desde entonces, vivían en campos de refugiados. Bangladesh intentó devolver a los rohingyas a Myanmar, pero no funcionó.
El domingo, un gran incendio asoló el campamento de Bukhali, donde vivían 1,2 millones de personas. Muchas de ellas perdieron su hogar y todas sus cosas. Según las autoridades, nadie murió en el incendio, y los bomberos lo tenían controlado.
