El domingo, más de 100 países firmaron un tratado de la ONU para proteger los océanos.
Los océanos del mundo sufren contaminación, acidificación y sobrepesca, y la biodiversidad está disminuyendo. Los países debatieron el tratado durante más de 15 años, pero uno de los problemas era que la mayoría de los océanos no pertenecían a nadie y ninguna ley los protegía. La razón principal por la que se tardó tanto en firmar el tratado fue, por supuesto, los intereses económicos.
El tratado pretende proteger el 30% de la tierra y el mar del mundo para 2030. Para ello, es necesario incluir cada año casi 11 millones de kilómetros cuadrados de océano.
